What is PETG filament?

Issuing time:2020-04-15 00:00

PETG filament, also known as Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol, is a co-polyester known forits durability and ease of use. The G in PETG, stands for glycol-modified,which makes the end product clear, having glass-like visual properties. It isoften described as the “best of both worlds” because it has the rigidity andmechanical properties of ABS but is still easy to print like PLA.

Advantages of PETG filament

PETG is a popular3D printing material for many reasons.

  • Polyethylene     Terephthalate Glycol has amazing thermoforming characteristics, meaning it     is easily heated and formed to specific molds.

  • PETG plastic     is less likely to shrink or warp.

  • Often used     when transparency is important because of its glass-like quality.

DR.3D PETGFILAMENTS

Characteristics

1. Non-toxic, harmless to human.

2. Good tenacity, high hardness, impact strength is 30 times more thannormal PLA, and breaking elongation is 50 times more than normal filament.

3. Corrosion resistance, applicable to most organic solvent

4. Good weather resistance and UV resistance.

5. Products are easy to be colored and printed.

Advantages

1. High transparency, and light transmittance is 90%.

2. High glossiness.

3. Temperature resistance, use for long time in the condition of 80.

4. High line precision, standard deviation of diameter0.05mm.

5. Low shrinkage, stable size and less warping. NO need heating buildplate when printing models whose bottom is small so as to strengthenapplicability of printers.

6. Good gluability and shock resistance between layers. Models can beadopted processing method of peeling, slicing and drilling.

7. Thin-wall models won’t turn white because of stress.

8. Lower filament hygroscopicity, easy to keep long time by simpledust protection.

Applications

1. High printing temp, high demand for printers and need to be heated.

2. Print models that have high demand for tenacity and strength likependant, etc.

3. Print models that need follow-up processing like hollowing, drilling and screw assembly, etc.

4. Print living goods like tooth cup, safe, healthful and relativelyheat-resistant.

5. Print models that are heat-resistant and transparent likelampshade, etc.

Parameter

1. Specification: 1.75mm, wire diameter range: 1.70~1.80mm.

2. Printing temp range recommended: 220~240.

Printing temp range recommended when printing mini or thin-wallmodels: 220~230.

Printing temp range recommended when printing large models: 230~240.

3. Printing speed: 60~90mm/s.

4. Build plate temp: no need heating build plate when printing modelswhose bottom is small.

Build plate should be heated up to 80~100 when printing models whose bottom arelarge.

5. Printing substrate: non-required.

6. We suggest using perforated plate, not using heat resistant adhesivetape in order to reduce warping probability and ensure beauty and integrity ofprinting models.

7. Package specification: 1.0Kg/roll, 12roll/pcs.
